Hey everyone! I made it to Guatemala! I love it here so much and it feels so good to be back with my squad even though it was hard to say goodbye to family and friends at home. I got to Guatemala last Monday, and I have absolutely loved every single second that I have been here. This is exactly where God wants me to be right now and I can’t wait to see everything that he is going to do while we are here.
What a typical week of ministry here looks like is doing ministry Monday-Friday, adventure days on Saturday, and we take a Sabbath day on Sunday. I fall more and more in love with our ministries every single day. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we spend the mornings in a local coffee shop in Parramos, and we go out and evangelize in the town. Then at 2:00 we go to the Academy of Future Leaders School to teach English. We usually help them with vocab and pronunciation, and it has actually helped me learn a little Spanish too. I usually play soccer with the kids too for part of the time. I love playing soccer with them so much even though they beat me every time. It is so sweet, and it is an easy way to build relationships with the kids because the language barrier doesn’t matter that much.
On Tuesdays we partner with the ministry Birdhouse and we go up to Los Planes. We have done house visits which has been so touching. The people here are so sweet and hospitable. It is so sweet to get to visit with them and get to know them. Some of their stories are pretty hard to hear, but I am glad that we can be there to pray for them and share how much Jesus loves them. We will also be doing children’s ministry on Tuesday as well, which I am so excited for. We will teach them a bible lesson and get to share Jesus with them.
On Thursdays, we have an activation day. We have worship and a lesson in the mornings which I love so much. The lessons are so good and I learn something new or get a new perspective on something that blows my mind every single time. After that we have a time of reflection to be still and listen for anything God wants to show or teach us from the lesson. Sometimes in the afternoons we will go out and evangelize to put what we learned into practice which is so cool. I used to be so scared of evangelism, but I grow more in love with it every single time I do it. It is so fun to go up to people and just start talking with them and build relationships with them.
I have loved my time here so much! Our ministries are amazing and I look forward to going to ministry every day! We are starting to get to build relationships with the kids at the school which is so much fun even though they laugh at my soccer skills. It is so fun to get to know them more and look forward to seeing them every week! God has already been moving so much here and I can’t wait to see what he will do over the next 2 months!
Thank you for all of the prayers!
Love,
Romy
