This last week has been so amazing. I just got done with week 3 of training camp and it was our last week! On Monday, we will load up the vans and head to North Carolina to do domestic missions. I am so excited to put all that we have been learning into practice and to get some new scenery!

We had some amazing teachings this week, and I feel like I have learned and grown so much in just this last week. We did a deep dive into the Bible and the different sections of the Bible and the authors, and we had some awesome teachings over spiritual warfare. I loved the teachings on spiritual warfare because I feel like it is a subject that isn’t really talked about as much, so it was really good to learn all about it. If you want to hear more about that please reach out (812-929-5410), but I won’t go into too much detail because you would be here all day reading my blog. I just feel so equipped and ready to go out now, and I am so excited! On Thursday, we hiked Mt. Yonah here in GA. It was a pretty hard hike, but it was so worth it! The views at the top were insane, and I feel like any time we do something like that it helps bond us all closer. I’ll put some pictures because it was so pretty. We also got to go to the laundromat yesterday which was such a blessing! We’ve been doing our laundry in 5 gallon buckets up until yesterday so it was so good to get a nice deep clean before we leave for domestics.

Spiritual take away:

I feel like over the last 3 weeks God has just been fine tuning my heart so much! There has been a lot of things, but one of the biggest has been me being a people pleaser. I feel like I have been a people pleaser my whole life, and I have excused it by saying I am just being a good person and being considerate, but God has shown me that it actually isn’t biblical to be a people pleaser. We are called to live like Jesus, and he was definitely not a people pleaser! If you need proof of that, look at how he interacted with the Pharisees! He went against the grain and didn’t care what people thought of him. He stood out in society, and we should too because our society is not living for God! More than it not being biblical, me being a people pleaser has hindered me from fully living up to God’s calling in my life. I have heard God call me to do things and ignored it because of what people might think of me if I did it. I am trying to work on this characteristic that I have had, and if this is something that you struggle with I encourage you to read the word, see what it says, and pray about it.

Galatians 1:10 says, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

  1. Romy, it is so exciting to hear of how your faith, trust and love of God is growing so quickly in this short period of time, preparing you for this mission work as well as your future. What a blessing. Your “mountain-top” experiences are just beginning and will continue. Grab your “gear” (your training) and hang on for the ride. All your life, God is and will be faithful. And, yes, spriritual warfare prayer is real and so necessary today to combat what is going on in the world. Blessings as you continue to navigate this journey. BTW, I think we all fall into the “people-pleaser” mindset time-to-time and need to refocus.

  2. Romy you are an amazing young woman… full of compassion, and ready and willing to serve our Lord in all you do. Love you so much! Praying each day for you as you fulfill your purpose in serving Him.

  3. It is so important to recognize our motives. God can use your people pleasing tendencies to reach others with Jesus’ love, too, as you will be drawn to those who need it desperately.
As Jesus changes our hearts to desire His pleasure more than people’s approval, God does give us the desires of our hearts then, and uses all our uniquely created characteristics to love people to Jesus. God’s blessings on your incredible journey to be more like Him every day.

  4. Oh honey!! How I wish I had learned that lesson when I was your age!!!

Praying that God continues to reveal Himself and Hiss will for you as you obey His calling. The Holy Spirit is the best friend you’ll ever have!!!

Yes, spiritual warfare is an incredible tool! Praying that you gain confidence in your ability to wrestle through the spiritual battles!!

Be blessed and be safe! ❤️
