This first week has been so amazing! I am just so in awe of how God has been moving. Everyday has just been packed with fellowship, worship, and a great community of people on fire for Jesus. The week started by getting here and meeting my squad! I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people! It was so incredibly hard to leave my family and friends, but I feel like God has reassured me so much in my decision every single day.

There has also been so many challenges since I’ve been here, but everything has been to prepare us for the next 9 months. For example half of our bags were taken to simulate if our bags got lost at the airport and what we would do in that scenario. We also practiced making house visits and sharing the gospel. The women in camp did a 2 hour fitness challenge, and we also took our fist bucket shower this week! If you are wondering what that is, you use a bucket to shower and you have a little scoop to pour water over your head. I know what you’re thinking, how luxurious, but it honestly feels so good after sweating all day. We stay in tents all of training camp and thankfully mine withstood the rain! God is GOOD! Even in the challenges God has been working. Being without all of my normal luxuries that I am used to, I have realized that none of that matters. If I have the Lord in my heart, that is all that I need and it can still be overflowing!

On Thursday, we did culture day! We adopted the culture of Indonesia for the day and we acted as if we were in that country. We ate different cultures foods for meals, and jelly and cheese sandwiches from South Africa are actually pretty good! That night we had a revival night! This was basically a big worship night full of praise, singing, and dancing. Every single worship session has been so amazing! I have always loved worshiping through song, and I have just felt so close with God during every single session. He has been speaking to me so much through the worship songs, and I have been coming out of worship feeling so refreshed and closer with my Father!

Spiritual take away from the week:

I feel like a reoccurring theme from this week is living on fire for the Lord, and having a goal of falling asleep more in love with Jesus than when you woke up. I’ve been thinking about what it means to be on fire for the Lord and have that burning heart. This phrase is something that I have heard growing up in the church, but I have never payed much more attention to it before. When I started thinking about this saying, I started thinking about fire. When I did this, I realized that fire isn’t timid, quiet, or hidden. Fire is loud, roaring, and uncontainable. We shouldn’t hide this love that God gave us, but we should be so on fire that our hearts are so hot that they light everyone that we come into contact with.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers!

Love,

Romy
